Hyetis Crossbow 41 Megapixel Camera Smartwatch Posted: 13 Aug 2013 09:00 PM PDT While Swiss-made watches represent the pinnacle of horology, smart watches are an entirely different ball game. But if this Hyetis Crossbow is any indication, the Swiss are making inroads to what is, at best, a developing frontier. Compatible with Android, iOS and Windows Phone 8 devices, the Crossbow has built-in NFC support and is WiFi- and Bluetooth-enabled. Onboard features include an altimeter, microphone and thermometer, as well as biometric sensors along the band that can measure the wearer’s vital signs. Last but not least, there’s a 41-megapixel camera for all your spy shot needs. Pre-orders for the $1,200 device will be available soon through the Hyetis site.

Anja Rubik Graces Cover of September 2013 Issue of Vogue Germany Posted: 13 Aug 2013 07:30 PM PDT Polish model Anja Rubik is the "It Girl" of the moment for the Vogue Magazine publication. Not only is she gracing the cover of Vogue Germany's September 2013 issue (which will hit newsstands on August 14), but the blonde-beauty is also the star model of the editorial spread entitled "God Save the Queen" in Vogue Paris' August 2013 issue. Rubik is captured in both magazines penetrating the camera's lens with her focused, regal stare and contouring her body to the desired creative concept like the top model that she is. In her cover photo, photographer team Claudia Knoepfel and Stefan Indlekofer immortalize Rubik in an all-Prada ensemble from the high fashion line's Fall 2013 collection. In "God Save the Queen", photographer team Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin snap a series of images that show Rubik conflicted between punk-rock fixations and royal etiquette. The editorial spread makes pithy use of the Autumn 2013 collections of Alexander McQueen, ChloĆ©, and Saint Laurent—to name a few. But really, it doesn't matter who Rubik is wearing because her hardcore swag would make the label look like money either way.

Ferrari 458 | Tuned by Hennessey Performance Posted: 13 Aug 2013 07:00 PM PDT Legendary tuning outfit Hennessey Performance has unveiled its upgraded Ferrari 458 Italia Spider. The Texas-based company added two turbochargers, increasing the vehicle’s power output to 738 horsepower and 532 lb-ft of torque (vs. the 562 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque for the stock model). Additional essential stats: a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of 2.8 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 10.5 seconds at 137 mph. Some of the details of the upgrade componentry include the low-inertia ball-bearing turbochargers, located at the tail end of the dual-clutch sequential 7-speed gearbox, with TIG-welded, mandrel-bent T304 stainless tubing, twin wastegates and blow-off valves, and aluminum plenum that contains the air-to-water charge-cooler element. At the other end of the self-contained charge-cooling loop is a rear-mounted heat exchanger, paired with dual electric fans that work to reduce inlet temperatures; these come with a maximum boost pressure of 7 psi and hold 6 psi through the 4.5-liter V-8′s 9000-rpm redline. Optional upgrades include Hennessey’s CarbonAero exterior pieces, consisting of a carbon-fiber front splitter and rear lip spoiler, Hennessey 20-inch monoblock forged wheels and a KW suspension system with 2-way adjustable shocks. The Ferrari 458′s HPE700 Twin Turbo upgrade is available for $59,995 installed and includes a 1-year/12,000-mile limited warranty, plus full dyno tuning and road testing.

Stella McCartney x adidas Womens Amazilla Pack Away Posted: 13 Aug 2013 05:30 PM PDT The talented Miss Stella McCartney has designed a fierce looking running shoe comprised of a hybrid animal-print pattern in a Sol Green and black colorway that stands out in today’s urban jungle. McCartney’s relationship with adidas’ Performance Line (which began in September of 2004) has produced some eye-catching sneakers in the past, so it’s not a surprise to find another gem in this Fall/Winter 2013 collection. Notable details of the shoe include its lightweight, foldable characteristic (hence the name “Pack Away”) and its zipper and bungee-cord closures which allow runners to slip on the shoe without the fuss of tying up laces. As with all adidas products, the model has been engineered to promote optimal athletic performance while looking good, too. Stella, would you mind designing one for the fellas as well? Available for purchase via CNCPTS.

Posted: 13 Aug 2013 05:00 PM PDT Back in June we showcased the work of Filfury, who had disassembled classic Nike Air Max runners and transformed them into pistols and assault rifles. The Sydney-based artist is at it again, this time embarking on a project that features skulls and bugs constructed from the parts of a variety of sneakers. You’ll see skulls based on a classic Air Jordan model, as well as winged insects built from reconstituted Nike and Reebok silhouettes. See if you can identify the kicks in the gallery below, and head over to Filfury’s site to see more of the artist’s inventive work.
