WTAPS x VANS Vault – Apparel Collection Posted: 22 Aug 2013 06:00 AM PDT Conceptualized to balance out the Summer 2013 footwear line from WTAPS and VANS Vault, here is a closer look at the apparel and accessories collection from the two companies. Visually, the OG Classic Slip-On LX, produced in red, blue, and white tones, heavily influenced the palette of this exclusive line. The collection is made up of t-shirts, hoodies, long sleeve t-shirts, trucker caps, beanies, tote bags, water bottles, and key chains, which means there is something for everyone. Expect all of the below pieces to be stocked on shelves of WTAPS dealers in Japan and around the world. JAM HOME MADE x Dickies – Sides Stripe Work Pant Posted: 22 Aug 2013 05:00 AM PDT Dickies have been a long favorite for workers, musicians, and skateboarders, for their durable design and affordability. This is the fourth time JAM HOME MADE, jewelry brand based in Japan, embarked on a joint venture with Dickies. For this project, the work pants are transformed into almost formal trousers, complete with taping on each side. Pleats are sewn into the front and rear, accompanied by metal studs on each side. Finishing the pants is an original removable key chain hook that slides into the bottom of the belt loop on the front. Nike & Jordan Brand To Unveil Concept Car Designs on Gran Turismo 6 | Video Posted: 21 Aug 2013 10:34 PM PDT For Microsoft and Sony, this holiday season won’t just be a battle between their respective game consoles, the XBOX ONE and PlayStation 4, it will also be about each of their gaming title franchise, Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo. In a bid for dominance over the auto racing simulator genre, designer Kazunori Yamauchi, his firm Polyphony Digital, and Sony Computer Entertainment divulged more details on their upcoming Gran Turismo 6, including Vision Gran Turismo initiative. By partnering with the actual automotive design teams, creative agencies, and manufacturers, the collaborations allow the introduction of concept cars in various design stages, virtually onto Gran Turismo 6. Furthermore, thanks to the Vision Gran Turismo initiative, car makers will be creating one-of-the-kind concept for the Gran Turismo franchise, like the Volkswagen Golf GTI Vision Gran Turismo, the BMW Vision Gran Turismo, the Alfa Romeo 6C Biposto Vision Gran Turismo, and the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo. Along with contributions from Alfa Romeo, Alpine, Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, General Motors, Honda, Infiniti, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, SRT, Volkswagen, as well as Bertone, Italdesign Giugiaro, and Zagato, designers from Nike and Jordan Brand will utilize the platform to unveil their concept car designs. Samsung x Alexander Wang – Wallie Gym Sack | Designed Via Crowd-Source Process Posted: 21 Aug 2013 07:43 PM PDT First announced earlier this year, the collaborative project between Korean electronics giant Samsung and fashion designer Alexander Wang is finally available. Dubbed the Wallie Gym Sack, the drawstring backpack was also the first fashion accessory to be designed through a crowd-source process. The initiative started back in February of this year when Wang asked friends, stylists, photographers, artists, and other influencers to submit sources of inspirations through their Samsung GALAXY Note II Smartphone. With the various sketches, photos, patterns, even “doodles,” Wang rendered each idea further to create a one-of-the-kind illustration, which was then transferred onto the unisex leather bag. “The abstract print really captures the energy of New York City,” explained Wang, "This collaboration is a great example of how technology and style can come together in an unexpected but really meaningful way.” Made with 100% calfskin and retails at around $550 USD, proceeds from the sale of each Samsung x Alexander Wang – Wallie Gym Sack goes to benefit Art Start, a New York City-based non-profit entity which organized creative workshops for at-risk children and youth between the ages of 5 – 21.
