| Engineered Garments – Spring/Summer 2014 Menswear Collection Posted: 30 Jul 2013 05:00 AM PDT
For the first time in the brand’s history, Engineered Garments took to center stage as they unveiled their upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 collection as a runway show in New York. A handful of press and buyers from around the world were invited to this private event, held last week, and given the opportunity to see the new garments on models. Even though this collection was geared towards men, Daiki Suzuki included one female model in the show to demonstrate its unisex style. Fittingly for the Spring/Summer season, there were plenty of floral patterns, bright color combinations, patterned fabrics, and loose silhouettes. | Nike X158 Shanghai – Opening Exhibition | Event Recap Posted: 29 Jul 2013 09:30 PM PDT
After some last minute adjustments, the Nike X158 Shanghai retail concept finally opened its doors over the weekend. Also known as “X158 Nike,” the mixed-use venue promotes both creativity from Nike’s design aspect, along with innovation taken from its technology side. And what better example than the presentation of "NATURE AMPLIFIED: THE ART+SCIENCE OF FIT + FREEDOM," a special exhibit on Nike Free Flyknit-inspired artworks. But aside from the numerous works of art, prototype, and visitors was the impromptu gathering of industry insiders, all in town for the YO'HOOD trade show. CLOT partners Edison Chen and Kevin Poon, along with UNDEFEATED owners Eddie Cruz and James Bond were all in discussion about their respective markets. David Sinatra, scion to the Stussy empire, greeted veteran influencers Paul Mittleman and Russ Karablin of SSUR, while DRx Romanelli‘s Darren Romanelli checked out the tech behind the Nike Free Flyknit. After running countless marketing initiatives non-stop the last few months, Matthew Williams and Heron Preston of #BEEN #TRILL finally had some downtime, while Fraser Cooke (Nike), Kazuki Kuraishi (Heather Grey Wall) and Michael Dupouy (La MJC) swung by to check out the festivities themselves. | Maison Martin Margiela x Moleskine Limited “All-White” Edition Notebook Posted: 29 Jul 2013 07:00 PM PDT
It might have missed the annual Japanese “White Day” tradition, but avant-garde fashion label Maison Martin Margiela is making amend to its fans across Japan with an exclusive all-white Moleskine notebook come in September. Beautifully bounded in a white hard cover and embossed with the imprint of “Maison Martin Margiela,” the notebook includes acid-free paper specially produced from Belgian cotton. Set to retail for ¥5,985 JPY, or around $61 USD, the notebook will be available for pre-sale starting on August 28th at the year-long L’ESPACE Maison Martin Margiela pop-up store within ISETAN Shinjuku department store. Under the brand’s Certified Network program, Reebok joins forces with hanon to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Reebok Classic Leather running shoe. Dubbed the “Aberdeen Leopards,” the colorway is inspired by hanon’s hometown of Aberdeen — specifically, the city’s coat of arms, featuring a shield containing three castles supported by two leopards. The upper is executed in premium pig suede in a mix of plain and perforated textures, complemented with golden yellow suede overlays and red accents at the tongue and heel. Additional details include a fully lined leopard-print interior, dual branded footbed, and debossed heel detail denoting hanon and Certified Network branding on each shoe. Look for the kicks to launch this Saturday, August 3rd. Release Date: August 3rd, 2013 (Saturday)

YouTube effectively put a stop to fans clamoring for the return of music videos to MTV’s daily programming, but one of the cable channel’s most popular VJs isn’t ready to completely put to rest that bygone era. A Republican virgin who went by the name Kennedy, the twentysomething became an unofficial avatar for Generation X, her stint as an MTV VJ from 1992 – 1997 placing her at the cynosure of alternative culture. She’s penned a memoir from those salad days, dubbed the The Kennedy Chronicles: The Golden Age of MTV Through Rose-Colored Glasses and published from Thomas Dunne Books. Kennedy relives a time when Nirvana altered the musical landscape while the Rock the Vote campaign injected a youth movement to the Clinton-led Democratic revolution in Washington.
