Marvel x ADDICT – Artist Series 1 | Vol. 2 Posted: 24 Sep 2013 06:00 AM PDT Here comes the second installment of Artist Series from UK-based streetwear brand, ADDICT, and American comic giant, Marvel. If your favorite character was not portrayed in the first volume, perhaps they might be included this time around. Gracing the t-shirts in this collection are Spider-Man, Wolverine, and The Thing. Mitch, Shogun, and Alex ‘Odisy’ Young were invited again to reinterpret these famous characters in their individual artistic styles. Each character comes in a black or white version, placing the full-color illustration as screen print on the front of the garment. Air Jordan 5 – “Shanghai Shen” Posted: 24 Sep 2013 12:00 AM PDT Erroneously linked at first as a tribute to Michael Jordan old Emsley A. Laney High School, the Air Jordan 5 “Shanghai Shen” actually celebrates Shanghai’s unique standing. Known to many as the “Pearl of the Orient” or “Paris of the East,” this vibrant coast city also went by an older designation of “Shen,” one which prominently displayed in yellow on AJ5′s lateral side. In reference to the city itself, where modernity seamlessly intersects with traditions, Jordan Brand designers actualized the concept by keeping the upper in the classic black nubuck, while adding a splash of non-conventionalism in the forms of teal light blue and bold yellow to the shoe’s midsole. Elaborating on symbolism once again, the color blue represents Shanghai’s dependance on water as a port city. Yellow, in the meantime, signifies Huangpu District and the culturally important Luwan neighborhood within it. Known locally as the Air Jordan 5 “Shen,” the Air Jordan 5 “Shanghai Shen,” like the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG XQ "Xi Qing," comes with a set of matching “AJ5″ graphic tees. INVINCIBLE x CONVERSE First String Jack Purcell Johnny Posted: 23 Sep 2013 11:30 PM PDT   The result of 3 different leathers and a year-long designing process, this new INVINCIBLE x CONVERSE First String Jack Purcell Johnny is also the first collaboration between CONVERSE’s First String premium sub-brand and a Taiwan-based label. Lavished with premium goat leather, cross stripes of soft Nappa leather on the shoe’s upper helped to form a mosaic appearance. For a distinct contrast, designers added bold leopard pattern leather as heel panel and insole lining, while a zipper ease the put-on, take-off process. Like all other Jack Purcell, white soles and toecaps etched with the Jack Purcell‘s “smiling line” in tonal white serve as one of the collaboration’s signature features. Imprinted with the INVINCIBLE logo on the cup sole’s exterior, the INVINCIBLE x CONVERSE First String Jack Purcell Johnny comes with matching white and black leather laces. Packaged with a tote and shoebox lined with leopard pattern print, the shoe, like all other CONVERSE First String editions, will be part of a limited collection. In a statement, Jimmy Wu, founder of INVINCIBLE, stated, “I am really proud and excited to be the first brand in Taiwan to work with CONVERSE. From the beginning, we wanted to make a pair of CONVERSE, which represented our style. The Jack Purcell collection, created in 1935 came first to mind. Henry Singer x BAMFORD WATCH DEPARTMENT – Rolex Daytona “75th Anniversary” Posted: 23 Sep 2013 09:00 PM PDT Canadian menswear retailer Henry Singer is celebrating its 75th anniversary, and BAMFORD WATCH DEPARTMENT is recognizing the milestone with a custom Rolex Daytona. Originally developed in 1963 to meet the demands of professional race car drivers, the Daytona is reworked here with Bamford’s signature blacked-out aesthetic. The chronometer has a stainless steel base with military-grade titanium coating and features mechanical self-winding movement and an oyster case with screw down pushers. Caterham AeroSeven Concept Posted: 23 Sep 2013 08:00 PM PDT Unveiled this week at the Singapore Grand Prix, the AeroSeven Concept from Caterham is based on an updated version of the Caterham Seven CSR platform and boasts technology borrowed from the UK-based automaker’s F1 team. Those benefits include a newly developed Caterham Engine Management System, as well as adjustable traction control and launch control systems. Under the hood is a Ford Duratec-based 2.0-liter inline-four, originally developed by Caterham for the production-spec Seven 485. It makes 237 horsepower, channeled through a six-speed manual gearbox to the rear set of Avon CR500 tires. The resulting 0 to 62 miles per hour spring time is accomplished in under four seconds. Caterham will likely put the AeroSeven into production next year, though there’s the chance to engine is modified before then. Star Wars x MEDICOM TOY – Yoda + Clone Trooper BE@BRICK Pack Posted: 23 Sep 2013 07:00 PM PDT Along with this Boba Fett/Jango Fett BE@RBRICK two-pack, MEDICOM TOY is set to release a second pack made up of a Clone Trooper and everyone’s favorite wizened Jedi master. And while the aforementioned father/son Fett duo makes all the sense in the world, we’re not sure why Yoda has been paired with a foot soldier of the Grand Army of the Republic. (As Star Wars fanatics know, the Clone Trooper could have been paired with Jango Fett as well, seeing as how the bounty hunter was used as the model to genetically manufacture the clone army.) Measuring just under 3 inches tall, the figures are available from project 1/6.
