Bodega – Fall/Winter 2013 Collection Lookbook Posted: 11 Sep 2013 06:00 AM PDT In preparation of their Fall/Winter 2013 collection release, Boston’s select shop, Bodega, uploaded their lookbook for the forthcoming collection. Boston natives should recognize the backdrop, as the photos represent the scenery surrounding the aforementioned retail store. In terms of the apparel and headwear, they have covered all bases, including timeless silhouettes such as button down shirts, hoodies, crew neck tops, down vests, henley neck shirts, chino pants, and denim pants. Emphasizing on unique combination of materials and patterns, the garments are refreshingly interesting. The collection will be available from Saturday, September 14 from Bodega brick-and-mortar store and webshop, alongside international stockists. Peruse the lookbook in the following pages. For this season, the Chuck Taylor All Star Canvas Hi sneakers were produced in two solid color versions, Deep Purple and Deep Taupe tone, which reflect the Fall season. However, the last navy-colored pair is vividly detailed with white star all-over pattern on the uppers, sure to attract attention. It is understood that these sneakers are equipped with the latest technology, while retaining the classic aesthetics of ’60s Chuck Taylor All Star shoes. Siki Im – Spring/Summer 2014 Collection Posted: 10 Sep 2013 05:30 PM PDT Siki Im’s Spring/Summer 2014 Collection isn’t clinical– it’s institutional. Inspired by the uniforms of the prison ward as well as by those worn in hospitals, Im has envisioned an unsettling, neurotic, and starchy aesthetic that made his models look like they were desensitized from colorful stimulation as they walked the runway. White dominated the attire in a manic, fear-inducing way on cotton textiles fashioned into baggy trousers, rectangular tops, elongated vests, and jumpsuits. Raw edges along shirts added that extra touch of grit to the overall concept and the plastic-constructed pieces were eerily reminiscent of a surgical doctor’s sterile uniform. The haunting allure of the designs is intriguing yet bizarre, but then again, when is fashion not? Patrik Ervell – Spring/Summer 2014 Collection Posted: 10 Sep 2013 05:00 PM PDT Channeling the recreational activities enjoyed on the lustrous, blue sea, Patrik Ervell’s Spring/Summer 2014 Collection dives into a nautical creative of crew-cut sweaters, jackets with elongated collars, water-speckled shorts, roomy pants, and form-fitted blazers. The use of white throughout the wardrobe imbues a youthful feel while the construction of ocean blue pieces ground the look into old-money sophistication. Functionality is key here as Ervell makes sure that the clothes not only look good on sea, but also on land as well. And as far as footwear goes, when in doubt, a pair of criss-crossed sandals with almost every look make it easy to sail out on sea without slipping up. HOOD BY AIR – Spring/Summer 2014 Collection Posted: 10 Sep 2013 04:30 PM PDT The talented Shayne Oliver has wasted no time in pushing the limits of his fashion label HOOD BY AIR. In addition to monogrammed button-down tops and beaded necklaces, the HBA Spring/Summer 2014 Collection presents an edgy creative concept that makes shirts look like skirts and jackets look like dresses. Oliver clearly knows no boundaries as his ceremonial-esque designs yield shorts that tear away into smaller shorts and straps (belonging to shirts and jackets) that flow in the wind. Fans of the apparel will find a wardrobe that hits heavy with pattern recognition at first (i.e. shirts designed in the mode of football jerseys and elongated tops with the Paramount film logo printed across) and then later ventures into more avant-garde ideas, such as outfits inspired by Chinese paratrooper uniforms embellished with tubular accents. Such an exciting and fun collection by HBA makes one wonder why a designer would ever care to limit himself by practicality– fashion is a means of letting creativity flow extensively and from the looks of it, Oliver is letting his run wild.
