HUF x HAZE – Collaboration Collection | Available Now Posted: 21 Aug 2013 06:00 AM PDT Following up to the collaboration project last year, HUF joined hands with Eric Haze once again this year for an even bigger line up of products. The collection is much broader than what was shown at PROJECT Show in Las Vegas earlier in the year. Haze custom designed a monochromatic repetitive pattern for this project, which is used extensively on apparel, accessories, and footwear. Upon close inspection, it becomes clear that the pattern is constructed from hand written letters that spell the brand name. Aside from the usual apparel and headwear, they have designed a square wall clock, laptop case, and Mateo shoes, for those who are looking for something other than clothing. Pick up these products at HUF online shop and participating retailers.

Nike Air Force 1 + Nike Lunar Force 1 “Fragment” Pack Posted: 21 Aug 2013 03:30 AM PDT Without a doubt, Hiroshi Fujiwara and his company, fragment design, have been instrumental to sneaker game as a whole. Fujiwara first gave a hint of things to come on his Instagram account, a teaser of the fragment design x Nike Lunar Force 1 sneaker. The duo of sneakers pay homage to the original Nike Air Force 1 HTM he helped design back in 2004, featuring crocodile uppers and contrasting details. Since the original Air Force 1 HTM was produced in extremely low quantities, many fans missed out on claiming their pair. Chinese collectors were left out altogether on the previous releases, as no retailer in China carried these particular models. Fast-forward almost 10 years, and the sneaker scene and community is ripe in China, opening opportunities for companies to capitalize on the new environment. When sneaker collectors were invited to vote on their favorite Nike sneaker this summer, the Nike Air Force 1 HTM ranked at the top of their list. Both versions, Lunar Force 1 and Air Force 1, will be available in Shanghai first before reaching to the rest of the world. Release Date:

Posted: 20 Aug 2013 11:00 PM PDT Bound for Frankfurt Motor Show next month, the Ferrari 458 Speciale is essentially the Ferrari 458 Italia on steroid. Already deemed by critics to be one of the most perfect supercar available today, engineers at Ferrari thought of more improvements and came away with the initial schematics for the Speciale. They started with the V8 powerplant first and tweaked an additional 35 horsepower to a total 597 horsepower, up from the original 562. In fact, the company certified it to be the most powerful, naturally aspirated V8 engine in Ferrari’s history. Another addition was the active aerodynamic system, which actuate flaps on the car’s front and rear to achieve optimal aerodynamic efficiency and downforce. Coupled with the active aero kit is the new Slip Angle Control (SSC), where nanosecond-long computation between the engine and traction control system allows the car to “dial-in” the ideal solution during tight cornering or wheel slip. Capable of 0 to 62 mph in 3 seconds flat, the Ferrari 458 Speciale is about 1.5 second faster than the standard Ferrari 458 Italia, a minute improvement when you consider the Ferrari 458 Speciale rumored price of $330,000 USD.

Bedwin & The Heartbreakers x Danner “Dave” Boot Posted: 20 Aug 2013 10:00 PM PDT As part of the brand’s Fall/Winter 2013 collection, Bedwin & the Heartbreakers joins forces with Danner to introduce the “Dave” boot. Its misleadingly quotidian name belies the design chops and high quality construction that went into its making, which features a full-grain leather upper and crepe sole, all handcrafted in the U.S.A. A fully lined leather interior delivers a vintage look and feel, while Danner’s stitchdown construction provides enhanced stability and durability. Lace-to-toe mountain lacing and Bedwin branded heel loops round out the details. Check out detailed looks below, and expect the boots to hit select Bedwin retailers in the coming months.

Hyperloop – Proposed Highspeed Transit System between LA and SF Posted: 20 Aug 2013 09:00 PM PDT The long drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco is anything but short. It takes at least 5 hours to complete and requires an enormous amount of patience. Thankfully when the mundaneness of life manifests itself into an utter annoyance, you can always count on science to come up with a solution—at least that's what California billionaire Elon Musk has done. Musk, who is one of the founding members of PayPal, SpaceX, and Tesla, has revealed his vision for a superfast, space-aged "Hyperloop" transport system to take people from LA to SF in one hot, 30-minute trip. The project is estimated to take 7 to 10 years to construct and cost up to $12 billion. If built, the system will be able to transport up to 28 passengers in each pod, with the additional ability to even carry vehicles. Musk likens the technology to that of a "Concorde, rail gun and air-hockey table". However, as cool as the project may sound, there are still a few kinks to be worked out, such as the safety of the transportation system, the cost, convenience, and resistance to weather complications. At the moment, Musk is reaching out to the public for solutions on how to improve the given design, as well as soliciting financial support from the state. If everything works out, we can only imagine how dope that would be— it might even inspire a song about riding along Pacific Coast Highway in a rocket. That’d be the illest futuristic shit evah.

Bedwin & The Heartbreakers – Fall/Winter 2013 Collection Lookbook Posted: 20 Aug 2013 08:00 PM PDT Bedwin & the Heartbreakers roared out of Tokyo in the early aughts with fully realized collections developed under the stewardship of creative director Masafumi “Bebetan” Watanabe, who had cut his teeth with the cult Japanese brand Tenderloin. Bedwin’s “paramount quality” ethos plays off the brand’s name, inspired by nomadic Bedouin tribes for whom functional and timeless apparel is of the essence. The upcoming Fall/Winter2013 collection certainly reflects that sensibility, showcasing pieces unrestricted by neither borders or timestamps. Check out the lookbook below, and expect the goods to launch soon at global Bedwin retailers.

Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500 – For 2014 Super GT Series Posted: 20 Aug 2013 07:00 PM PDT Nissan has taken the wraps off its Nissan GT-R Nismo GT500, soon to be tearing up the track for the 2014 season of Super GT, which will now be operating under the same technical regulations as the DTM (German Touring Car Championship). Compared to Nissan’s previous Super GT race car, the new model more closely resembles the 545-horsepower street version of the car, which is powered by a 3.8-liter V6. Nissan hasn’t released any specifics, but the 2014 Nissan GTR Nismo GT500 was seen this week conducting a demonstration run at round five of the Super GT series at Japan’s Suzuka Circuit. Check out more looks below.

Sneakerpedia – A Chat with Dave White Posted: 20 Aug 2013 06:00 PM PDT Dave White may be billed as the Warhol of his generation by Art Daily and as a reincarnation of Jackson Pollock by The Londonist, but in his heart, he is just a cold-stupid-on-a-serious-tip sneakerhead from Liverpool, England. Having gained notable acclaim from his sneaker series in 2002 which pioneered the movement known as “sneaker art”, White has literally left his mark on the production of fly kicks. Just browsing through White’s Sneakerpedia crate is a testament to his artistic brilliance. The man’s mind exudes freshness and the sneaker is his enviable canvas. As a treat to us mere mortals, this pop culture icon has engaged in an insightful chat about his vintage classics and exclusive one-off sneakers that belong to his digital archive at Sneakerpedia. Additionally, White talks of his current influence in creating his “Natural Selection” series, his fixation on a pair of expensive Nike shoes, and his devotion to beautifully designed pieces such as the Coke bottle and the B51 Mustang. “It’s like they’re all designed to do something. They’re all designed for performance. They’re all designed to be used for sport, and they are all just incredibly beautiful things to look at. It wouldn’t matter if they were five dollars or a million dollars– you know? My love for specific models would never change,” expresses White with giddy enthusiasm. But the love of well designed sneakers– that transcends all. “It’s kind of like when you pass a biker and you get that nod– sneakers are the same kind of thing. It’s one of the only things in life when a complete stranger will come up to you and go, ‘Nice,’” White says with a smirk on his face. Yea, we feel ya, homie. Sneaker love is a vivrant thang.
