CLOT x UNDFTD Kangol & Converse Capsule Collection Posted: 16 Aug 2013 10:00 PM PDT East meets West in this upcoming capsule collection from CLOT and Undefeated, featuring Converse sneakers and Kangol caps, as well as a limited apparel range of graphic tees, woven shirts and fleece shorts. The kicks take the form of a retooled Converse Chuck Taylor in black and olive green colorways, both featuring zip-up closure in lieu of traditional laces and accented with both CLOT and Undefeated exterior branding. The accompanying tees feature a baseball motif that continues with the shirts, while the Kangol caps carry the sort of throwback aesthetic of the bleacher bums in the stands. Drawstring fleece shorts in black or grey round out the collection.

Spyker B6 Venator Spyder Concept Premiers at Pebble Beach Posted: 16 Aug 2013 09:00 PM PDT Spyker debuted the B6 Venator Concept earlier this year the Geneva Motor Show, followed quickly by news that a convertible version of the car would be unveiled in the following months. Dubbed the Spyker B6 Venator Spyder, the roadster had its official coming-out party today at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California. The vehicle is mostly unchanged from its hardtop counterpart, featuring the same “turbofan” wheels and V-patterned mesh front grille, along with a 375-horsepower V6 under the hood. The finishing touch is the company’s tag line inscribed on the exterior: Nulla tenaci invia est via, or “For the tenacious no road is possible.” The Dutch sports car manufacturer is hoping to launch the B6 Venator Spyder in 2014 for the European, Asian and Middle East markets, with a U.S. release expected for 2015.

Grand Theft Auto Online – Official Gameplay Video Posted: 16 Aug 2013 08:00 PM PDT Rockstar Games has unveiled the official gameplay video for Grand Theft Auto Online, and what the three-minute clip reveals is utter insanity — and what looks to be a whole lot of fun. You’ll rob banks and escape on parachutes when you’re not playing tennis or dispatching helicopters with a rocket launcher. According to Rockstar, GTA Online is a standalone game, though it’s set in the GTA 5 engine. The multiplayer mode launches with a character-select wheel through which you can assume the persona of the three main characters — Michael, Trevor or Franklin — as well as an unnamed fourth option. The features and geography of GTA 5 will be the starting point of the online game, but will “continue to expand and evolve after its launch.” Check out what you can expect in the gameplay video below, and look for Grand Theft Auto Online to be available October 1st.

Reserve Channel – “ARTST TLK” With Pharrell Williams: Daniel Lanois | Video Posted: 16 Aug 2013 06:00 PM PDT Pharrell Williams, the host of ARTST TLK, has recently conducted a very educational 45-minute interview with Daniel Lanois, the three-time Grammy Award recipient and man who Rolling Stone dubbed “the most important record producer to emerge from the 80′s”, that we at Freshnessmag.com highly suggest checking out. (There’s even a nude lady thrown into the interview, just for good measure. Check out frame 30:00.) As both musicians share a sublime, synesthetic relationship with sound, the conversation that transpires proves itself to be a fascinating study of how Lanois interprets the projection of sound within different spaces. For Lanois, music is tangible, needing the right energy and ambiance to be released and recorded properly from the subject musician. Theories of how to reach “the moment of strike”, how to compartmentalize beats from his “beat orphanage”, and how to combine advances in technology with older sound modulation machines in his “laboratory” are all discussed in euphonic, intelligent colloquy. According to Lanois, he trained his ear to become sensitive to the aspects of recorded sound by experimenting in an old library, devoting each room to a different sound production. Such an unconventional method of learning thus lead Lanois to work with such talents as U2, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Lou Harris, and Willy Nelson. When conversing about music production, it’s as if Lanois’ passion for music is fixed into his genetic being. “I visualize sound. I can never get away from it,” he says. Lanois’ influence on the behind-the-scenes production has proved indispensable in creating that lush, ambient sound that fill our ears everyday. Williams puts it best when he says to Lanois at one point, "Imagine how many lives you've changed from that laboratory [in which you've created music]." Mos def. Lanois is a source of cultural inspiration that the world is lucky to have.

Hot Wheels – “Double Loop Dare Documentary” | Video Posted: 16 Aug 2013 04:30 PM PDT Do you remember how Saturday mornings were the best when you were a kid? You’d wake up early, pour yourself a bowl of sugary cereal, and with earnest excitement, you’d vege-out on the couch watching cartoons in your PJs until noon. Yes, life was sweet. And then, in between all the good stuff, there were commercials advertising the coolest toys that you just had to have. For the boys, that toy was Hot Wheels. That badass, dare-devil promoting, Evel Knievel cultivating toy was (and still is) the epitome of cool. It dared to defy gravity– wait, no: It DOUBLE DARED gravity. Well, a bunch of grown-ups from the Hot Wheels Team got a little nostalgic and decided that they wanted to re-live those simpler times by creating a giant Hot Wheels track. Yup, they built a death-defying, double loop track and showcased two drivers, Tanner Foust and Greg Tracy, successfully going through it at the 2012 X-Games in Los Angeles. Measuring in at a height of 66 feet, the incredible orange track has become the subject of a short, inspirational documentary (see below) that beckons the kid in you to come out and play. Yes, some mistakes were made and some cars were totally destroyed, but as you will see in the documentary, the Hot Wheels Team endured past that. With profound patience of the trial and error process, the team’s leader expresses the following words: “Why should you stop dreaming just because you're not a kid anymore? If it's one thing we live by, it's ‘Don't be afraid of failing’. It's only through failure that you learn. It's only through experimentation that you find out how far you can push it. It's okay to fail as long as you learn and you don't repeat the same mistake again. It's not just about the limits of human endurance, it's about the limits of imagination; it's about the limits of what's possible.” Word. We always knew the makers of Hot Wheels were legit. It makes us want to set up an entire obstacle course in the living room like the good old days and make the toy cars jump over our pet dogs, cats, and the fish tank. Now that shit was dope.
