Louis Vuitton x Chapman Brothers x Dover Street Market Ginza – Fall/Winter 2013 Collection Posted: 15 Aug 2013 06:00 AM PDT Louis Vuitton‘s latest collaborators for their Fall/Winter 2013 season were the Chapman Brothers, Jake and Dinos, from UK. The collaboration project consisted of original artworks laid over Louis Vuitton items, ranging from bags to apparel, accessories to home ware. For this collection, a red and blue color schemes were produced for worldwide sale, yet a third version has sprung up, thanks to Dover Street Market Ginza. These black pieces are sold exclusively at Dover Street Market shop in Japan, including a t-shirt, a stole, and a rug. If you are in Tokyo next time, drop by the store to check out these items in person. Element Skateboards – “Open Minds Lead to Open Doors” | Video Posted: 15 Aug 2013 05:00 AM PDT By definition, a cruiser skateboard is predominantly utilized for sidewalk surfing and commuting. It is a smaller size than conventional skateboards, which makes it easier to throw around and faster to skate. Element Skateboards pro rider, Evan Smith, had the opportunity to design his own cruiser board, and they produced a short video, Open Minds Lead To Open Doors, coinciding with the release of the board. The deck features a cosmic backdrop, helping to bring forth his guitar and bird graphic. One of three models from the namesake “Weatherman” Pack, the meteorology-inspired design actually has its roots from the 2011 Nike Zoom KD IV “Weatherman.” In reference to Kevin Durant’s childhood aspiration of becoming a meteorologist, the Nike Air Foamposite One features an abstract variant of a Doppler weather radar map on its upper, followed by matching accents in sky blue, black, and white. adidas Y-3 Fall/Winter 2013 Collection Posted: 14 Aug 2013 07:00 PM PDT After a decade of working with master tailor Yohji Yamamoto, we think it’s safe to say that legendary sportswear brand adidas got lucky (big time). With an affinity for working with new fabric technology, experimenting with edgy concepts, and a natural gravitation to the color black, it was only a matter of time before Yamamoto created pieces suitable for the athletically inclined (and whoever foresaw the success of such a harmonious collaboration was one smart SOB). Having passed the 10 year mark, the Fall/Winter 2013 collection for Y-3 pushes forward with Yamamoto’s avant-garde, futuristic proclivities with a series of space-age footwear, electrified jackets and coats, reversible shirts, cuff pants, and geometrically embellished accessories. There’s even a special anniversary t-shirt to commemorate the occasion. And, as always, black comprises the majority of the collection as the dominant color of continuity. For our sneakerheads out there, the designer has imbued the Y-3 Honja High, Y-3 Smooth, and Y-3 Snow models with some otherworldly characteristics, including hidden laces, rubber heel wraps, and bungee cord ties. The core wardrobe is accented with pops of acid green in pieces such as the Y-3 TPU Coat, the Y-3 Track Cardigan, and the Y-3 Art Tee. And if you are infatuated with the hue as much as we are, you may be keen on pairing the Y-3 Tech Twill RVS Shirt and the Y-3 Tech Twill Pack Pants for an unnecessary shock effect on all passersby (kind of like what Nicki Minaj does when she rocks the acid green hair). Givenchy – Pre Spring 2014 Footwear and Accessories Collection Posted: 14 Aug 2013 06:00 PM PDT Givenchy, the luxury French clothing brand, has released a pop-culture-inspired pre-spring 2014 footwear and accessories collection that captures today’s fashion trends with no apologies. Take, for example, the small zipper purse in black. On it, there’s a half illustration of Bambi (and we’re pretty sure he’s giving us the middle finger in the other half). On other accessories, Creative Director Riccardo Tisci has employed an orange-heavy colorway (as seen in a camouflage-printed accessories case with pops of orange, an all-orange leather tote, and an orange-flame printed shopping bag). The footwear has some interesting details as well: One pair of high-top sneakers is composed of all-white leather and stitched up like a baseball glove while another pair of high-tops is blanketed with a floral print from the toe box to the ankle strap. Tisci is brilliant at reworking mundane patterns and modulating them into the bizarrely cool. It’s almost like he’s playing jazz and our eyes can’t keep up. His latest Reebok Shaqnosis colorway, dubbed the “Barracks,” pays tribute to army base living, featuring a distinctive cargo green finish with a camo collar lining. A black midsole and khaki accenting at the outsole, tongue tag and leather heel loop round out the details. Cole Haan – LunarGrand Military Boots Posted: 14 Aug 2013 05:00 PM PDT The best of both worlds is upon us in these smartly fashioned LunarGrand Combat Boots by Cole Han. Though it may not show, these understated, brown leather shoes boast Nike’s coveted Lunar cushioning technology in the footbed, hence giving you that extra spring in your step. The design comes in two colorways (brown or olive green) and features tonal ripstop inlays at the bootleg. Skinny laces match with the boot’s respective color in a way that is fitting of the desired conservative look. In both choices, the top of the tongue and the base of the shoe are lined with tan brown accents at the edges. Set to be released in the near future, but a definite date is not yet known.
