Surviving Summer

From Judy Hedding, your Guide to Phoenix
It is not unusual for me to get emails from people bemoaning the weather. You'd think I was responsible for it. Well, if I am going to take the heat for our weather (pun intended), I will also take the credit for a week of lovely, cloudy skies and lower-than-normal temperatures. You're welcome.

Is Your Dog Coughing?
My dog was. We never had a dog exhibiting these symptoms before, so we had her checked out for Valley Fever. Valley Fever affects many people in the Southwest Desert because of the dust here and that dogs can also contract this disease. Read about the causes, symptoms and treatment for Valley Fever in dogs.

  • Fall Ball
Last month Bob sent me an email about Arizona Fall League Baseball, because he wanted to cement his vacation plans for late October. I told him to go ahead and commit, because Fall Ball starts in early to mid-October every year. The schedule is out now. Good news tidbit: Prices are not going up this year.

    Get Out and Do Something
  • Every year at this time: Dbacks, India Nite, ArtWalk. See more annual festivals, activities and events in August.
  • Free: enjoy the music, make animal shapes, see a classic, get in step with STEM, and love blackberries. Get the details.
  • These will cost you something: political comedy, open mic, stargazing, MTV comedian, a big musical, art for grown-ups, race to the playoffs, empowering women, night golf and stranger danger. Get the details.
