| | We've spent the week in Baltimore, Maryland, working on our upcoming event, The 2nd Annual Rodder's Journal Revival, taking place September 26-29, 2013. Those of you following us on Instagram and Facebook have seen a little bit of what we've been up to, and we wanted to share a few more images from our travels. With less than three months until show time, many of the details are falling into place and we're excited by what's in store. We don't want to give too much away just yet, but we think you'll be excited, too. | | | Rods and customs are shown lined up during our low light photo shoot at last year's inaugural Rodder's Journal Revival at Pimlico Race Course. This year's show is being held September 26-29, 2013 in Baltimore, Maryland. From left to right are the Deuce roadsters of Jerry Campbell, Bob McCreary, and Ray Bartlett. | | This year's Revival will retain the same character as last year's show – a relaxed weekend driving and checking out the very best rods and customs from all over the country. We do expect the event to grow to a much larger scale, and we've spent time refining every aspect of it to make what we did last year even better. For those who attended the first Revival, it will have a familiar feel. But we've made just enough changes to keep it exciting and fresh, whether you're joining us for the first time or coming back for more. | | | We plan to return to Fells Point in Baltimore for another evening on the historic waterfront. | | | Revival rods and customs lined the cobblestone streets and brick piers of Fells Point. | | This year we're organizing a variety of activities surrounding the Saturday and Sunday car show at Pimlico that will take us to Baltimore City's waterfront neighborhoods and out through rural Baltimore County. The details are just about finalized for our Thursday evening kick-off party, and we've pre-run a route for Friday's cruise that will take us through the rolling hills outside of the city to a waterfront destination guaranteed to be an event all its own. | | | We previewed this year's cruise route down riverfront roads and through historic Maryland countryside. | | | The clubhouse and grandstands at Pimlico Race Course are being renovated with fresh red and white paint for this September's Revival. | | Saturday and Sunday we'll be returning to Pimlico Race Course, a track with a storied history going back almost 150 years to the first race in 1870. We've even discovered there was some auto racing at Pimlico in the 1900s, which we'll tell you more about in the future. The track provides an amazing backdrop for a traditional hot rod and custom show, with antique stables, acres of beautiful green turf, and the vintage grandstands and clubhouse rising up from the north side of the track. This year the team at Pimlico has updated the grounds with fresh paint on many of the buildings, incorporating some color in the clubhouse and the out buildings surrounding the track—and it looks better than ever. | | | Longtime Maryland enthusiast Larry Roche drove his mild custom '61 Chevy Impala. | | We found time to visit with Ray and Terri Bartlett from The Hot Rod Garage in Denton, Maryland. And while we were in town we happened to get a call from our friend Joe Cabral, a New Orleans hot rodder who drove his '60s-style Model A Tudor from Louisiana to Maryland for the first Revival last year. Joe's band The Iguanas were in town for a show, so we joined them for a night of roots rock in nearby Annapolis. | | | Joe Cabral drove his Model A Tudor from his home in New Orleans for the first Revival. | | We'll let you in on more details in the near future, but if you haven't registered for the Revival and reserved your hotel rooms, now is the time to do it. There are still rooms available at each of our host hotels, but space is limited and as the show draws closer those rooms will disappear quickly. Visit www.roddersjournal.com or call us toll free at (800) 750-9550 (U.S.) or (877) 479-2627 (Canada) to register today. It's shaping up to be an event you won't want to miss! Cheers! Your Friends at The Rodder's Journal P.S. Don't forget to email photos of your car to trjrevival@roddersjournal.com even if you've already registered. | | Rodder's Journal 2nd Annual Revival The 2nd Annual Rodder's Journal Revival will be taking place this September 27-29 in Baltimore, Maryland.
