| Air Jordan 1 XQ “Xi Qing” – Graphic T-Shirt | By Wang Tao Posted: 27 Jul 2013 12:00 AM PDT Currently an art teacher at a public high school in Shanghai, Wang Tao (aka ABB) thought little about the sport of basketball till a few pickup games with his students. To avoid more embarrassing losses to his student, Tao went on a personal training regiment and soon the basketball theme started to appear in his art works. Now known for his highly imaginative illustrations in relation to sports, particularly with basketball, Jordan Brand asked this future comic book artist to pen a special graphic tee in conjunction with the launch of Air Jordan 1 XQ "Xi Qing" this weekend. The result is a detailed sketch of the shoe splintering upon impact, with Michael Jordan-like shrapnel darting forward at full speed. This violent episode is how Tao sees the Air Jordan 1, a mysterious vessel not unlike the Genie’s Lamp. And just like Aladdin did in the tale of Arabian Nights, the wearer of Air Jordan 1 is capable of unleashing his (hers) full potentials, ambitions, hopes, and dreams. Fearing it will lose its visage of novelty among consumers, MINI recently unveiled the MINI Vision Concept at Design@Home event in Munich, Germany. Based in part on a virtual 3D hologram, along with clay models and physical mock-ups, those in attendance sensed in first-hand account of how a new MIMI design came to be. In addition to executives from MINI and its parent company BMW, Anders Warming, Head of MINI Design, also took part in the preview of MINI Vision Concept. A preliminary design of the new 2014 MINI Cooper, the MINI Vision Concept features many distinguishable design elements. Similar to its 2011 MINI Rocketman Concept, the front hood of this concept is rounded to an elliptical shape. Together with the new LED headlights and center mounted exhausts, the new silhouette complements the hexagonal radiator grille as well as the side vents, more visible now as full-length slits right behind the front wheels. The design’s originality continues into the concept’s interior, where larger doors and open cockpit create a spacious feel. Now with lounge seats and a “floating” center console, the MINI Vision Concept certainly feels larger than it actually is. Expect many of the ideas to be in the 2014 MINI Cooper.

Boasting a featherweight build and appealing unorthodox looks, the Nike Mayfly Woven proved to be a surprise hit last summer, and this year’s follow-up finds the QS runner done up in a suede upper finished in a trio of tonal colorways. All three sit on a Phylite midsole and solid rubber outsole, with premium details taking the form of waxed flat laces and leather detailing at the shoe’s heel and interior. Discreet Swooshes on the tongue and heel represent the only bit of exterior branding, appearing on all three midnight navy, black and bronze colorways. Since the launch of its Promaster Collection in 1989, timepiece maker CITIZEN been relentless in the introduction of new technologies. Best known for its Eco-Drive, which harnesses any type of light sources and convert them into energy, CITIZEN also added SATELLITE WAVE in 2011, one of the first automatic timekeeping and calibration system with the usage of GPS satellites. And in that same spirit of innovation, CITIZEN will launch a new watch line, the Promaster Eco-Drive ALTICHRON Series. With the incorporation of an electronic compass and highly sensitive altimeter, all housed behind a thick anti-reflective sapphire crystal and titanium casing at 51.1 mm in diameter, the ALTICHRON watch series is capable telling accurate depth, height, and direction in addition to time. Pre-gauged for a height of 10,000 meters (Mount Everest only reaches 8,848 meters) and depth down to 300 meters, CITIZEN’s designers added a final twist to the ALTICHRON. Rather than dispensing information through an LCD readout, all of the necessary data points are now on an analog dial face instead. Color coded beautifully, the multilayer dial and hands present instantly with a push of a button. This do away with the excessive amount of time wasted “flipping” or “rotating” through the numerous screens on the LCD-base navigational watches. Available in polished or matte titanium case, both comes with index in either feet or meters, the CITIZEN Promaster Eco-Drive ALTICHRON-CIRRUS Watch is set to launch this September through select CITIZEN retailers worldwide.

| Raf Simons “Static” Video for Fall 2013 Campaign Posted: 26 Jul 2013 04:30 PM PDT
Shot in Raf Simons‘ hometown of Stadspark in Antwerp, the campaign video for the Belgian designer’s Fall 2013 menswear collection depicts models out in the forest, the film switching from fuzzy VHS video to crisp high-def stills following intermittent bursts of static. The concept is meant to convey the idea of old versus new, the shifting filmic technologies mirroring the throwback aesthetic of a collection built for a new generation. Simons drew on the talents of a duo of longtime collaborators — photographer Willy Vanderperre and stylist Olivier Rizzo — to create the visually arresting clip, one bursting with color from the forest backdrop, as well as the loose-fitting apparel seen on the models. | LeBron James Makes First Visit to Philippines for Nike Basketball Tour Posted: 26 Jul 2013 03:30 PM PDT
As part of his Witness History Tour, LeBron James touched down this week in Manila for his first visit to the Philippines, as well as his first trip outside the U.S. following the Heat’s second consecutive NBA title. Though the visit lasted just 24 hours, LeBron made the most of his time, kicking off the tour at Nike Park in Bonifacio Global City, where he welcomed hundreds of fans for a Q&A session. Later, Bron participated in a basketball showcase at the Mall of Asia Arena, the full house getting the chance to see the four-time league MVP conduct a training session with athletes from the high school, collegiate and professional levels. The main event culminated with James coaching youth participants in an exhibition game against a team of Nike athletes that included professional and national team players. Throughout his visit, Bron actively engaged the scores of young athletes he encountered, conveying the message to chase their dreams and find their own greatness, even as they help to shape the future landscape of Philippines basketball.
